Wheel thrown and altered stoneware, soda fired and reduction cooled. WMX1 My Spooters attempt to take a familiar object, the teapot, and through manipulating its form allow them to explore a new persona. By stretching, cutting, folding, and pushing clay into itself, I find that qualities of the body are enhanced into my pieces. I intend for these choices to create objects that remind many people of many different things. I enjoy this relationship between object and beholder as it relies on the agency of both participants, brought forth by the tension of known and unknown, familiarity and novelty.
