Wheel Thrown, Altered, Handbuilt Stoneware, Fired to cone 10 PMC1 Mike Poness is an award-winning potter working out of the Glen Echo Pottery. Mr. Poness was introduced to pottery through a class with renowned potter Vally Possony while pursuing his architectural studies at Catholic University over 50 years ago. The rigor of architecture is clearly evident in his work with clean lines, strong forms, and repetitive elements. Mr. Poness’ work has been recognized in the Creative Craft Council Biennial shows at Strathmore Hall, The Workhouse Clay International,, The Fourth International Small Teapot Competition, and, the Strictly Functional Pottery National. His work is featured in the following publications; “Wood Fired Ceramics,-100 Contemporary Artists” by Amedeo Salamoni and “500 Teapots” by Bruce Lawton. He is represented by the Blue Spiral I Gallery in Asheville, NC.
