Wheel thrown Stoneware, wood ash glaze, woodfired to cone 11 reduction. MAT1 I am a ceramic artist currently producing functional pottery at my studio sixty miles southwest of Chicago Illinois. One of my favorite aspects of creating pottery is the formulation of my own glazes which are often plant and wood ash based. I fire my own propane fueled kiln as well as participate in the group firing of a large wood fired train kiln in Plano Illinois. I have a Masters Degree in Ceramics from Northern Illinois University. I also had a fellowship to study in western Japan where I was apprenticed at a traditional pottery studio for three years. I have had shows in Illinois as well as Shimonoseki and Fukuoka Japan.
