Earthenware, sigillata, borax and lithium wash, cone 03 oxidation Born in 1992 at Sinai Hospital and raised in Arnold, Maryland, Austin has spent much of his life exploring arts and crafts. For much of his life music played a vital role as a vehicle for personal expression, although he was always quite curious to explore ceramic arts. It wasn’t until 2018 when Austin took his first pottery class and was immediately captivated that he was able to realize his curiosity for clay. Currently specializing in producing functional pottery using the potter’s wheel and handbuilding techniques, Austin’s current work aims to explore simple forms with decorative surface textures, colors, and patterns.
