Porcelain, slab and wheel thrown parts, embossed with print plates, underglazes & satin glazes, cone 5 oxidation An American ceramic artist bending clay to create a narrative of popular culture, iconic form, and graphic design. Graphic design is a key element in Fisher’s work. Fisher creates stencils to create underglaze patterns of color to add impact and drama to his work. He works in porcelain, paper clay, stoneware, and terracotta – sometimes all together on a single artwork. His work is primarily built from clay slabs but may also include wheel-thrown features or press-molded clay additions to achieve a surreal presence. Underglazes, glazes, and clay slip combinations are applied to a piece to accentuate the print impressions. The final work is high fired in an oxidation environment.
