Porcelain, underglaze and celadon glaze, cone 6. Bi was raised in the countryside near Xian, China, Bi earned his master’s degrees at Qinghua University in Beijing, China. He is an adjunct professor at Montgomery College and a resident artist at VisArts center in Rockville. Bi’s work reflects the traditional Chinese influences, yet is infused with a contemporary aesthetic. Through his life and work, Bi has formed a bridge between the introspective sensibilities of Chinese culture and the dynamism of modern Western culture. Xiaosheng’s ceramic, sculpture and calligraphy works have been exhibited in solo and group shows in Asia and the USA.
