Clay After School: Beginner Handbuilding CC02 (ages 6 - 9)

Time: Thursday 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM

Skill Level: Beginner

This is a 10-week afternoon class for ages to 6 - 9. Students will focus on building skill, craftsmanship, and discuss technique to build deeper relationships with tools and materials. They will explore texture, color and shape while building technical skills as they create a wide variety of wonderful creations.Each class session will introduce a new technique and present a new, exciting challenge. All works will be created in red earthenware, decorated with vibrant AMACO velvet underglaze and glaze fired to cone 04. Class includes all materials and firing.  Class size will remain at reduced capacity for increased social distancing, masks indoors remain mandatory.

Instructor: Maggie Jones

JEREMY WALLACE is a current resident artist with Baltimore Clayworks and was the Lormina Salter Fellowship artist for 2014-2015 . He earned his BFA with a concentration in ceramics from the University of Wisconsin Superior in the fall of 2009. A native of Minnesota, he has recently worked as an artist-in-residence at St. Petersburg Clay Company for 2013-14 and instructor at the Morean Arts Center in St. Petersburg FL. He began work as the Noborigama assistant with Baltimore Clayworks in 2011-2013. Jeremy’s functional and sculptural vessels explore expression through line, texture and movement.
