This is a 11-week afternoon class for ages to 9 – 12. Students will focus on building skill, craftsmanship, and discuss technique to build deeper relationships with tools and materials. They will explore texture, color and shape while building technical skills as they create a wide variety of wonderful creations.Each class session will introduce a new technique and present a new, exciting challenge. All works will be created in red earthenware, decorated with vibrant AMACO velvet underglaze and glaze fired to cone 04. Class includes all materials and firing. Class size will remain at reduced capacity for increased social distancing, masks indoors remain mandatory.
Ruth O’Mara has been bringing art education to children and adults in schools and art centers since 1995. She has been awarded several local and state cultural council artist in residency grants over the years and is passionate about enriching lives through individual and community art projects. She enjoys handbuilding with ceramics and acrylic and watercolor painting. Her work has been exhibited in galleries, shows, and contemporary craft stores in the United States and Italy.
