Free flowing forms grow out of intuitive building techniques. Out of these three-dimensional shapes, illustrative figures emerge and play with the surface in exciting and unexpected ways. In this fun 11-week course, we will explore slab building, coil building and pinch methods to create free-form utilitarian mugs, vases, plates and bowls. These leather-hard forms will then serve as a decorative canvas upon which we may create illustrated narrative using colored slips, oxide washes or vibrant underglaze colors. This class is for students with no prior handbuilding experience, all are welcome. Course fee includes 25 lbs. of clay and bisque firing, glaze firing fees are additional. Proof of vaccination required, indoor masking remains mandatory.
